  • Upadhyaya started umpiring in domestic tournament from Shadar Memorial Cricket Tournament in Janakpur some 26 years ago and also stood in the Mahabir Cup in three consecutive editions.
  • He also did umpiring in the ACC U-19 Trophy in 2001 in Kathmandu and also got the opportunity in four tournaments organised by Asian Cricket Council.
  • “I  am still doing umpiring in domestic tournaments and will continue to do so,” said Upadhyaya, who played national cricket tournament from Janakpur and club cricket from Biratnagar.
