Southern Daily Echo – Chris Wood’s second one-day five-fer was not enough to prevent Hampshire from losing their last game to finish bottom of their Super 50 group.

Summary

  • Chris Wood’s second one-day five-fer was not enough to prevent Hampshire from losing their last game to finish bottom of their Super 50 group.
  • But despite that, and another impressive performance from Fidel Edwards (9-0-51-4), the Windward Islands managed 293 thanks largely to West Indies star Andre Fletcher’s career-best 132.
  • Hampshire were bowled out for 157 in reply after good starts from captain Jimmy Adams (30), Sean Ervine (34) and Lewis McManus (35) before Wood continued his fine game with a 28-ball 24.
  • Only West Indies spinners Shane Shillingford (21 at 12.6) and Sunil Narine (20 at 9.25) took more wickets than Edwards’ 16 at 19.4.
  • Hampshire’s three Ws – Wood (ten at 18.6), Wheal (nine at 30) and Weatherley (eight at 25.5) – took 27 wickets between them.
