Southern Daily Echo – Hampshire captain James Vince says there is still room for improvement after his side’s emphatic win against Worcestershire.

Summary

  • After seeing Hampshire complete victory by 196 runs, with Fidel Edwards (3-33) taking three of the last five wickets this morning, Vince said: “It is a great start to the season.
  • “The way we started the game set us up quite nicely which allowed us to get over par in the first innings.
  • Worcestershire captain Joe Leach said: “The scoreboard doesn’t quite do us justice, although we deserved to lose the game, I think 180 flatters them slightly.
  • “We’ve had a quick chat and we’ve spoken about giving them spells in the game especially in the first session and the 70-odd Vince got there we didn’t bowl as well as we could do and we were always fighting back in the game.
  • “I have just told the group, which might be a bizarre thing to say on an 180 loss, that this game reaffirmed to me that we deserve to be here and mix it in this division with these types of teams.
