Fox Sports Australia – There is plenty to look out for for Australian fans this winter, with 16 Australians pencilled in to play in England’s first-class, List A and Twenty20 competitions this year.

  • With spots in Australia’s Test middle-order up for grabs, Travis Head started his county season with an underwhelming first-innings 9 for division one team Worcestershire before bouncing back with an unbeaten 45 in the second dig.
  • In division two, two-time Test all-rounder Hilton Cartwright made his county debut for Middlesex and scored a 32-ball 30 in the first innings.
  • South Australian quick Joe Mennie enjoyed himself in bowler friendly conditions for Lancashire against Nottinghamshire, though his division one team did suffer a six-wicket loss.
  • Mennie’s South Australian counterpart Dan Worrall took 2-20 and 2-5 in Gloucestershire’s division two match against Kent.
  • Test incumbents Shaun Marsh and Matt Renshaw have both signed up to play in the first-class competition, however neither was in action in season’s first week of red-ball cricket.
