Cricket365 – Former Proteas wicketkeeper Nic Pothas has left his role as Sri Lanka’s fielding coach to spend more time with his young family, the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) board has confirmed.

  • Pothas joined the Sri Lanka national side as a fielding consultant in 2016 but was then elevated to head coach after Graham Ford resigned in June 2017.
  • Under his Pothas’ guidance, Sri Lanka lost home and away Test series against India and were also embarrassingly beaten in an ODI series at home by Zimbabwe.
  • He did however guide the Asian side to a Test series victory against Pakistan in the UAE before he was replaced as coach in December by former Sri Lanka Test batsman Chandika Hathurusingha.
  • In a statement issued by the SLC, Pothas said: “After two incredible years with Sri Lanka cricket, this is the right time for me to move on to other opportunities, which will allow me to spend quality time with my young family.
