It’s been a frustrating start to the season so far – the scheduled first round of league fixtures on April 21st moved to later in the season due to the extremely wet spring weather.

Summary

  • Followed by wins for the first and second team in friendlies against local rivals Milford Hall and a couple of inter club practice games, the second one of which was played in temperatures of just eight degrees!
  • Only the third team were able to complete a league game on the first weekend of the season, hanging on for a draw at Codsall.
  • The first team got their season off to a winning start against Attock, totalling 234-7 from  50 overs with captain Laeq Chishti (59 not out) and new signing Sabawoon Zazai (53) the major contributors.
  • The second team hosted Halesowen and were beaten by three wickets in an entertaining game that we perhaps should have won.
  • With no game for the fourth team as our opponents couldn’t field a team, the third team entertained Rushall firsts and dismissed their visitors for 116 with youngsters Will Hinder (2-16) and Myles Davis (3-17) the chief wicket takers.
