Coefield Robinson struck a half-century while Nelson Bascome and Paul Carr bagged eight wickets between them to guide Flatts to a 51-run victory over Somerset Bridge in a low-scoring Open League affair at White Hill Field yesterday.

  • Top order batsman Robinson provided stability at one end on the way to a match high knock of 71, that included seven fours and a six, but could not a find a partner able to stick around long enough to build a meaningful partnership as wickets continued to fall at regular intervals around him.
  • Set a target well within reach, Bridge’s reply got off to a horrendous start as new ball pair Bascome and Carr sliced through the top and middle order with consummate ease.
  • The home side were skittled for 81 with early order bat Hewvonnie Brown (21), middle order bat Donnie Charles (10) and tail-ender Caines (20 not out) the only Bridge batsmen offering any resistance.
  • Bascome was the pick of the Flatts bowling attack with five wickets while Carr claimed three.
