Summary

  • KARACHI: Young left-arm medium pacer Zia-ul-Haq bowled tightly and Israrullah hit a solid 74 to enable Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) to keep their hopes alive when they defeated Sindh by five wickets in their last day-night league outing of Pakistan Cup National One-day Cricket Championship at Iqbal Stadium Faisalabad on Wednesday.
  • Chasing a modest total KP had a breezy start when test diacard Shan Masood went after the bowling, scoring 31 off only 17 balls before being removed by left-arm international pacer Mohammad Irfan in the fifth over of the innings.
  • KP then faced another blow in the shape of the wicket of their skipper Mohammad Hafeez (4) who fell prey to Aamer Yamin.
  • After facing initial hiccups when the game began following an early morning rain, Fawad Alam (52) and Salman Butt (41) did try to consolidate the innings, sharing 58 in the fourth wicket stand before international allrounder Hammad Azam got rid of the later to dent Sindh’s chance of a recovery.
  • Earlier Mohammad Irfan Junior gave an early breakthrough to KP when he got rid of Gauhar Ali after the wicket-keeper batsman had smacked four fours in his 19-ball 23.
