Summary

  • Australian and Lendlease Breakers allrounder Ellyse Perry has once again shone on the world stage, in a momentous match for women’s cricket, the first ever Women’s IPL T20 Challenge fixture.
  • Captain of the Supernovas, Harmanpreet Kaur, won the toss and elected to field first and Healy (7) was the first wicket to fall for the Trailblazers with the score on 17.
  • Perry collected the key wicket of Trailblazers captain and India opener, Smriti Mandhana (14), courtesy of an excellent catch from Kaur at mid-on.
  • The Trailblazers recovered somewhat, thanks largely to 32 from 37 balls made by New Zealand allrounder Suzie Bates, before she was deceived by a slower ball from Perry.
  • However, the Supernovas would need the composure and class of Perry to guide them home after they lost 4/20 between the 15th and 19th overs.
